I Am Tickled (Pink)

Love Poem for Chris Crocker

R. W. Watkins,
in a bid to commit artistic suicide for cutey-pie Chrissy

Hold me tight
hermaphrodite
I need to feel you every night

Cling to me
androgyny
like sunken ships beneath the sea

They put a price on the will to be
dollar-science treachery
a strange situation
expensive operation
just to reach conformity

Make my scene
petite drag queen
you're gorgeous, girlish and only nineteen

On the brink
don't stop to think
from your side I will never shrink

It's cold and calm like a skating rink
surgeons' knives—they cut in sync
now some call it sinning
—but it's just a new beginning
and oh how I am tickled pink

(Note to Chrissy: Jimmy Kimmel is probably younger and cuter than me, but you wouldn't mind if I put some of my Skittles in your mouth, too, would you...?)

R. W. Watkins lives in Canada.

About OW!
Outsider Writers have been distributing chapbooks in dark subterranean caverns for too long. The corporate presses and literary institutions have no vision. The media is irrelevant. It's time to rise into the sun!

Our Goal: Unite the write! We will join forces where we are strong, eliminate duplication of effort where we are weak and put the power and authority over literature back into the hands of the only legitimate owners: the authors and the readers.
