The members of OW believe strongly in forging connections between writers and in building solidarity as a community through relationships with diverse groups and allies. To this end, we:
-Established a community network for members to connect and communicate on topics of interest. There are groups, discussion forums, projects, resources, and both publishers and writers. All are welcome to join this network and create a personal profile.
-Maintain this website as a resource for members, with a broad range of content and a diverse group of contributors from all walks of life.
-Collaborate with community groups for social justice projects and outreach to frequently marginalized writers. At this time, we are particularly interested in prison outreach and female “outsider” poets.
-Post calls for submissions for member publishers who are seeking content and manuscripts
-Promote and support the work and efforts of our members, and offer assistance when possible to new and emerging writers and independent publishers.
