what reminds
the sun
it once graced
our flesh?
i tell
my daughter
of my
father and
of his father
who in russia
shot and killed
3 german officers.
but
just how many
generations
til
i'm swallowed by
the shadows?
i ponder this
as
i snuff out
my cig
down a vitamin c
grab a pen.
i need each day
i can get.
