The man who coined the term "cyberspace" is now an entity within it.
This looks to me like what Science Fiction needs: a journey to get closer to the heart of the machine. And how apt that William (Neuromancer) Gibson is leading the way there, about twenty years after his ground breaking book about a cyber distopia.
With all of his publishing success one might not consider him an "outsider". But really, Science Fiction has always been the genre of the outsider reader and writer. And what could be more radical than escaping the real world to give your reading in a sim space?
If Tron was the cave painting of an earlier cyberage, it's now starting to look like we are entering the new Enlightenment.
