There is a lame old expression that goes: "Into every life some rain must fall." If this is true than O.D.B. must live every day of his cranky exitence in a monsoon. Is he one of those people who talks (I guess "writes" is what I mean) about the weather, while being unable to do anything about it? Well he is standing in the rain (I'm extending the metaphor ok?), so you don't have to. Does this mean he's all wet? You decide. But remember: "You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows." (JDF)

Notes From A Dissonant Ole Man #4

I must admit. The O.D.B. does live out here in the country. There is not a lot out here. Sometimes that's a good thing, and sometimes it's a bad thing. You can call me a hermit of sorts. I don't bother anyone and no one bothers me. When I found out that our so-called president Bush was going to be speaking at a commencement ceremony in the nearest major city, the O.D.B. needed to gather the troops around here and take a road trip.

It took us a good couple of hours to get there. When we got there things were already going on, people on both sides of the road, and there were people lined up in the median. We stood on the side of the road with signs and it seemed like nothing was going to happen.

The O.D.B. noticed an old man with a Bush shirt on. He was walking up and down the median with a Republican Party flag, and a corporate American flag (It was not a real American flag.), he was walking around telling people to get a haircut, and go smoke some pot. I saw a young anarchist kid come up behind him and pull the Republican flag down.

The man did not see who did it so he just turned around and started yelling at everyone. Soon these brownshirt police officers (Relax they did have brown uniforms.) were starting to gather around. The O.D.B. recognized there was about to be trouble, so he positioned himself in the median.

The brownshirt police were telling the kids they had to get out of the median, and the kids were saying they were not leaving. I was telling one of the brownshirt cops they had been there for a while and I did not see why they had to move now. I heard behind me one of the brownshirt police tell one of the kids that he was arrested. I looked up and there were a lot more brownshirt cops and they were blocking the road. They grabbed the kid and took him over to the side of the road. They threw him down in the grass and started to cuff him. One of his friends said something about it so they grabbed him too.

The O.D.B. went over to the side of the road where they were cuffing them and saw they had grabbed a girl for something too. So they were cuffing these three kids. The O.D.B. took out his digital camera and started taking pictures. Tarnations! Inside the college speaking is probably the greatest war criminal in the history of the world. We are stuck standing out here in the rain, and now they are arresting innocent kids. The O.D.B. was not happy. A few expletives escaped his lips like "Brownshirt fascists.".   With these brownshirts right in my face trying to intimidate me I just kept snapping pictures.

Well the pictures have been sent to the ACLU as well as a few alternative media outlets. We'll see what comes of it. Probably nothing. The O.D.B. just gets more and more discouraged the more he sees. But the O.D.B. still has hope. All is not lost kids, but it is going to take a lot of work and sacrifice to set things right. To take this country away from corporations and give it back to the people.

Now that that tirade is over with The O.D.B. can get on with some current events. Earlier this week the reverend Jerry Falwell passed. The O.D.B. knows he should never speak ill of the dead. But a lot of abortion clinics, gay people, and god knows what else will be much safer without this hate-mongering tyrant around. With that said The O.D.B. is out!

Well tarnations! Who can control the weather son besides the government? Maybe I need to make a storm machine like Tesla did.

About OW!
Outsider Writers have been distributing chapbooks in dark subterranean caverns for too long. The corporate presses and literary institutions have no vision. The media is irrelevant. It's time to rise into the sun!

Our Goal: Unite the write! We will join forces where we are strong, eliminate duplication of effort where we are weak and put the power and authority over literature back into the hands of the only legitimate owners: the authors and the readers.
