Which Way Is Heaven

I waited until the sun rose and began to walk,
When I noticed I had stamina-
I looked to the sky and began to talk,
“Can anyone tell me which way is Heaven?”
I’d truly like to know, because wherever people live
prosperous lives, that’s where I’d like to go.
The place where angles fly,
is where I can lay my mind to rest, and watch them pass by.
Someone said they saw my Grandmother,
I wonder how she looks,
Hope they tell here I asked where heaven is,
On a page selected inside this book

Fly Away

I heard a voice say,
“Here are wings, use them wisely,
Tote them to open land and use your muscles,
Maybe you can lift yourself off the ground

It’s been way too long,
You trapped inside,
Dare I pour myself out onto page?
You’d ooze everywhere and disintegrate like water.
Who said I wouldn’t use these wings?
They lied; I’m ready to fly away

My momma taught me to fight,
Not with my hands but with my mind,
My hand controls my mind though,
So now you can read how I fight.
I’m dieing to escape, and entrap myself in these wings,
Use them wisely,
and lift my self off the ground so I can fly away

I Am
I am resistant,
I am a stockade,
I am a limestone
No one can persuade me,

I am a flame burning,
I am broken wings in a calming breeze
I am a genuine existence,

I am devotion,
I am joy,
I am sorrow-
I am ones soul,

I am equivalent,
I am fewer,
I am largest
I am exceptional,

I am fearful,
I am daring,
I am impassioned
I am, complete

Conquering Water

Life’s been a struggle, constant without rest,
It is though, ironically beautiful like a rainbow in the sky.
I can’t sing about being born by a river,
As I am not familiar with treading water,
I do although know anxiety and depression have me blue on the inside,
and flow continuously through my body.
Like a river so deep, punishing whomever for the bad memories of me,
The water rushed to the tip of my nose and overflowed my soul,
I’ve learned these obstacles can be conquered,
God does know-
he has walked on top of water,
What I find to be impossible, but willing to try and conquer.

About OW!
Outsider Writers have been distributing chapbooks in dark subterranean caverns for too long. The corporate presses and literary institutions have no vision. The media is irrelevant. It's time to rise into the sun!

Our Goal: Unite the write! We will join forces where we are strong, eliminate duplication of effort where we are weak and put the power and authority over literature back into the hands of the only legitimate owners: the authors and the readers.
