Most EZ lubes have a medium sized waiting room with a coffee maker and tires hung up on the walls for decoration. Not this one. It is a single room with no more than nine seats crammed on two cracking walls. Everybody here is frightened..........

where my shadow should be

I buy my daughter
books I neglect
to read to her.

I buy my son
a baseball mitt
with no intention
of playing catch.

I'm never around,
never where
I need to be,
but always there's a replacement:
seducing enticing
commercials promising
a better life

paid for
by my absence.

there once was a toad mushroom elf named Withersfur. she was a friendly & jumpy, hairy & grumpy little spittle of a hummersgun - all the spoons who would tune her at noon said she was wayland olliwall, completely spanderlunk when it came to conducting the tag shirts to tea...........

It started when I dreamt that I was riding in a car with three tough guys.  It was an old car, something from the early 1900’s, and the tough guys were dressed like liquor peddling gangsters...........

My City of No Repair

My City has an insatiable appetite
its belly swells on the decadence
it consumes
spitting out ruins
and decay
of dreams gone away
only taking in
what it deems worthy.

The heat is stifling
in my City
I go to my car
I roll down the window
and turn the key
the wheel too hot to grip
I am sticking to the
leather seats
like a fly in a trap.

I start my journey into the
smog filled sunset of my
City
I choke
on the exhaust
of everyone’s waste.

My City used to be glorious and shiny
filled with hope
much like my dreams
only to have reality
tell us different.

We are one in the same
my City and I
always wanting
what we once were

In our own minds
our streets are paved
in gold.

About OW!
Outsider Writers have been distributing chapbooks in dark subterranean caverns for too long. The corporate presses and literary institutions have no vision. The media is irrelevant. It's time to rise into the sun!

Our Goal: Unite the write! We will join forces where we are strong, eliminate duplication of effort where we are weak and put the power and authority over literature back into the hands of the only legitimate owners: the authors and the readers.
