I think many of the people saying that hope that if they repeat it enough, poetry WILL die.    I don't think poetry in the "context of poetry" is as important to society as it used to be, which depresses me because reading poetry often forces people to SLOW DOWN, but poetry isn't dead, which should be obvious considering the music world, many of which songs are really poems sung to music.     The context surrounding poetry has changed, how people appreciate it has changed, but they're still appreciating it.
