I do not want to be a rock star either. I just want to get the girl, and keep her. WHen I ran my open mic series (14 months, alt dot coffee, 139 A Street NYC, NY) I noticed that a lot of posers were using the microphone to get laid. They would be up their on their perch looking girls in the eyes and reading right to those two beautiful eyes. I find that very interesting that at a guy would put his name on the sign-up lists and go up to the mic with words that he had written on a COCKtail napkin with the intention to get the girl. At the audience's expense, no less. Who wants to watch a dude pick up some girl? That's were you need a big hook to drag the posers away from the micropgone or atlease set a time limit or hell: charge them 5 bucks for five poems or five minutes. Any thoughts at the round table, from chris here @ "the kid's table". Peace and good morning.

About OW!
Outsider Writers have been distributing chapbooks in dark subterranean caverns for too long. The corporate presses and literary institutions have no vision. The media is irrelevant. It's time to rise into the sun!

Our Goal: Unite the write! We will join forces where we are strong, eliminate duplication of effort where we are weak and put the power and authority over literature back into the hands of the only legitimate owners: the authors and the readers.
