Man Cave–Poetry Series with Alan Catlin
“Real suicides don’t leave notes”
Richard Boes
He’d done the tour,
been everywhere, served,
fought, conquered, was
a rock and roll legend,
part action hero, part method
actor channeling Genghis Khan,
a one man scorch-the-earth,
leave-nothing-behind road
warrior as hard to see as
The Invisible Man, as quiet
as an assassin on a high priority,
top secret, need-to-know mission
with unlimited resources, clean
laundered cash monies, all
the best resources’ money could
buy, his security clearance so
high there wasn’t even a file
to keep track of who he was
or where he’d been. Liked his
whiskey warm and whenever
possible, on fire, his women too.
Felt, after awhile, you crossed
so many lines, you wonder if
you lost the right to live.
The will too.

Alan Catlin’s most recent chapbooks include “Only the Dead Know Albany” from sunnyoutside.com, Brain Damage and Short Shots ( a mini-chapbook) from Alt-current.com, “Self-Portrait of the Artist Afraid of His Self-Portrait” from March Street Press and “Men in Suits” from Madman Ink.
Alan, you are a mad man. and so prolific. Love seeing your name every time I turn around.

If I’m not mistaken, Mr. Catlin has been frequently published in many of the same zines and journals where I’ve often appeared. Lynx and RAW NerVZ Haiku immediately come to mind. I liked this latest piece, and I’m not a major fan of most contemporary free verse, to say the least….
Alan, again you nailed it…b
